If you’ve been around for a while you may have caught our previous post, where we wrote about our top 5 Cornwall dog walking spots, from woodland walks, to beachside strolls. Whilst we stand by all of these beautiful Cornish walks, there are simply too many to choose from, so naturally now we’re bringing you part two. So if you’re looking for somewhere new to take your dog walking in Cornwall, read on:
The South West coast of Cornwall has many exquisite dog walks that are not to be missed. There are two excellent dog walking routes at Whitsand Bay. You may choose to walk along the Rame Peninsula over to Cawsand, which offers plenty of space for dogs to run around whilst passing several nice pubs along the way. The National Trust also suggests a wonderful circular dog walk that’s approximately 6.5 miles long through woodland, heathland and a natural reservoir.
Further down south you will find Marazion, a quaint Cornish village that overlooks the famous St Michael’s Mount. Following the coastal path along to Perranuthnoe, past the old mine workings at Trenow, makes a lovely coastal walk for dogs and humans a like. You can find a detailed map of the route on iWalk Cornwall, along with 200+ other Cornish walks.
This picturesque walk from Mullion Cove to the Lizard mostly follows along the cliffs, but it is fairly hilly. What makes this walk especially dog friendly is the multitude of dog friendly stop off points including, country pubs, and Cornish beaches.
Tehidy is the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall an is a lovely spot to walk your four-legged friend. There is free car parking located at the; North Cliffs, East Drive and South Drive entrances; which can be found on the Tehidy Country Park Map. This makes it a really convenient spot to take your dog for a day out that both of you will enjoy.
Respryn is situation on the Lanhydrock estate, near Bodmin. Our favourite part of this wooded walk is the doggy bathing areas in the river Fowey, which allows your pooch to have a fun and safe swim without disturbing any other wildlife, such as the otters which inhabit the river. There is a carpark with a suggested £2 donation charge but it’s free for National Trust members.
