Are you looking for somewhere to bring your four-legged friend when they’re not in dog day care St Ives? We’ve launched a series; Doggy Day Care Cornwall’s Dog Friendly Tour of Cornwall. Each post focuses on a new Cornish town covering everything from the best dog walking spots, restaurants and cafes, places to stay, gardens and tourist attractions. This week we’re focusing on St Ives, but stay tuned as we may be covering your town next…
Sail Lofts, St Ives
These luxury self catering apartments are nestled right in the heart of St Ives, just a stones throw away from Porthmeor beach. If you’re headed to St Ives on a dog friendly holiday we’d recommend coming in the spring or autumn, the weather is mild and the town isn’t not as busy. The Sail Lofts, St Ives have four dog friendly apartments between the months of September-June, but they don’t allow dogs in July and August. If you come before Easter, or after October 1st your dog will be allowed on all of St Ives’ beautiful beaches. The Sail Lofts do ask that your dog is not left alone in the property at any time and a maximum of two dogs are permitted in each property. If you’re in need of some St Ives dog sitting whilst you’re out and about, we can help, so why not get in touch?
This small and often overlooked cove is the only beach in St Ives that allows dogs all year round, at any time of the day. Tucked away between Porthgwidden Beach and the harbour, it’s best visited during low tide when your dog will have more space to roam. Although the beach isn’t big, it is perfect for a paddle in the sea, and will help cool down your pooch on a hot summer’s day. If you fancy a change from Bamaluz the Harbour Beach allows dogs between 7pm-8am during the summer months, and dogs are allowed on Porthmeor, Porthgwidden and Porthminster beaches during the quiet season, between October-Easter. We think the beach is a perfect spot for St Ives dog walking.
