Dogs are a Man’s best friend, but sometimes it’s little tricky planning days out with your four-legged friend when they’re not in dog day care Redruth. That’s why we launched the series; Doggy Day Care Cornwall’s Dog Friendly Tour of Cornwall. Each post concentrates on a new Cornish town covering everything from the best walks, restaurants and cafes, places to stay, gardens and tourist attractions. This week we’re focusing on Redruth, but stay tuned as we may be covering your town next…
With over 9 miles of paths and 250 acres of idyllic lakes and woods, Tehidy is the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall. It’s a wonderful day out for the whole family, with everything you need from a picnic area and cafe, to a visitor’s centre and toilet facilities. Tehidy was formerly the estate of the Bassets, one of the four most rich and powerful families in Cornwall. At Carn Brea, overlooking the Redruth area, you can see the Basset memorial, built in 1836 to honour Sir Francis Basset (1757-1835). There is free car parking located at the; North Cliffs, East Drive and South Drive entrances. You can find these on Tehidy Country Park Map. This makes it a really convenient spot to take your four-legged friend for a day out that both of you will enjoy.
Penventon Park Hotel
Penventon Park Hotel is a beautiful hidden gem, nestled in a tranquil avenue of verdant trees and subtropical palms. The building itself is a former Georgian Mansion house that has been transformed into a boutique hotel. Offering the perfect base for a short break or business trip in Cornwall, it’s brimming with history and intrigue. The hotel is very dog friendly, but does require advance notice. This way you can snap up one of their dog friendly rooms, which all have patios with direct access to the gardens. This is great for doggy guests who need an early morning walk. You can also dine with your dog in the lounge, the bar and the arbour.
