Although we love our dogs like family, it’s sometime a little tricky planning days out around them. That’s why we launched our series; Doggy Day Care Cornwall’s Dog Friendly Tour of Cornwall, to help you find Cornwall’s best dog friendly spots when you dog isn’t in dog day care Penzance. Each post focuses on a new Cornish town, covering everything from the best walks, restaurants and cafes, places to stay, gardens and tourist attractions. This week we’re talking about Penzance, but stay tuned as we have a few more to go…
The Goldophin Arms is perched, overlooking St Michael’s Mount in the heart of Marazion village, making it one of the most beautifully situated pubs in Cornwall. Offering dog friendly accommodation as well as a dog friendly restaurant, it’s a great spot for locals and tourists alike. Dog’s are allowed in the downstairs dining area of the restaurant as well as the Beach Bar and on the outdoor terrace, so it’s dog friendly all year round, in all types of weather. The serve breakfast, lunch and dinner using fresh local ingredients and have a great selection of gins. We’d recommend a nice walk over to St Michael’s Mount, followed by lunch on the terrace on a sunny day, a perfect doggy day out.
Long Rock Beach
This favourite dog walking route of Penzance locals, starts from the bus station in the town centre and heads out to Long Rock beach. Dogs are allowed here all year round and this long stretch of beach is enough to tire any pooch out. The water is shallow and swimming is very safe so it’s great for a puppy paddle! If you’re up for the walk why not carry on over to Marazion beach and head to The Godolphin Arms for a spot of lunch? Don’t forget, there is a seasonal dog ban on Marazion beach during summer, so it’s best to do this out of season or in the evening.
If you’ve got any recommendations to share leave a comment below or let us know on Facebook. We’d love to hear your thoughts. Don’t forget we’re here to help with all your Penzance dog day care needs; whether there’s a not-so-dog-friendly activity you have in mind, you’re busy with work or you’ve booked a holiday. Our luxury home-from-home environment, and constant supervision will make sure you and your dog feels at ease.
